Breeding Philosophy
Whilst we continue to maintain the 'Essence and Integrity' of the American Staffordshire Terrier, it is also our intention to strive to achieve the Best Of The Breed.

As such, Zaliamstaff will only plan a mating when we are looking for our next new addition to our Amstaff family and when we want to enhance our lines for the betterment of the breed.
Our approach is to breed for ourselves, rather than for the simple purpose of selling puppies. We are also very selective when it comes to selling or co-owning puppies.
The American Staffordshire Terrier is a breed that requires the ideal person who understands them.
For the Betterment of the Breed
We pride ourselves in breeding for outstanding temperament, true to type American Staffordshire Terriers in line with the Breed Standard.
Zaliamstaff American Staffordshire Terriers are well balanced, light on their feet, and are bred to exceptional health standards. Our Amstaff’s also have the intelligence for all areas of activities, whether it's agility, obedience, show conformation, therapy work or beloved family companion.
This is a direct result of our dedication to the betterment of the breed in New Zealand and overseas. We have spared no effort in procuring access to extremely high quality pedigree Amstaff bloodlines.
We recommend potential buyers research the breed thoroughly and converse with various reputable breeders. You need to be well informed when considering purchasing your first Amstaff.
Contracts and Co-ownership
We are firm supporters of contracts and co-ownership. This allows our Amstaff’s to live the rest of their lives in a lifestyle that they truly deserve.
It is paramount to us that our puppies go to their benevolent and devoted forever homes knowing that we are here for continual support for our puppy owners throughout their American Staffordshire Terrier’s growth, from baby puppy to senior adulthood.
Guardian Homes
Every dog deserves proper attention and love. Because of this, we have decided to place some of our ‘pick of the litter’ puppies in guardian homes so that they can be part of a family environment whilst we retain ownership and breeding rights. We feel it is important to limit the number of dogs we have on our premises so that each individual dog gets the proper attention they deserve.

Registration and Health Testing
All our dogs are Registered with Dogs NZ (formerly New Zealand Kennel Club (NZKC). They are health tested once they have matured and must have good results before we will consider them for our breeding program.
Early Neurological Stimulation
Zaliamstaff have introduced Early Neurological Stimulation as part of our Amstaff breeding programme. We believe this will set the puppies up for better lives, which is in line with our aim of working for the betterment of the breed.
